Ladies Vets - April 2011
This winter Trottiscliffe entered a Ladies Veterans Team for the first time. Sally Stowell was the captain and after establishing how many ladies would like to play a team was set up enabling everyone to have 2 games each. As they had entered at the lowest division (4) the games were not too hard apart from the last one against David Lloyd Kings Hill who were strong as they had also just entered a new team. However all the matches were won by Trottiscliffe and for the final Sally partnered Annette Eccott with Audrey & Tricia once again as the 1st pair.
Travelling away to Parklangley the final was played against 4 lovely ladies and was most enjoyable, although a much tougher test than the other matches. Sally & Annette had a difficult time in their first set against the Parklangley 2nd pair losing 2-6, but fought back to win the second set 6-2. A championship tie-break was then played to decide the result which Parklangley eventually won 11-9. Meanwhile Audrey & Tricia were having a great game and beat the1st pair 6-2,6-0. Sally & Annette found the 1st pair too strong losing 1-6, 2-6, however Audrey & Tricia once again won 6-0, 6-2. The extra set Sally & Annette had won was crucial and therefore Trottiscliffe won by a set!
Champagne, courtesy of Nigel was enjoyed by both teams with photos taken of everyone. Next year Trottiscliffe will be in Div 3 and with so many ladies keen to play it is planned to enter another team in Div 4,
